Garden party set for Sat.
Bring tools to help plant

The Arboretum and Sandy Creek Nature Trail Board are inviting everyone to a garden party Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20, but don't wear your frilly frocks or seersucker suits.

This is the kind of garden party for jeans and bib overalls, and don't forget to bring garden tools and gloves.

Dr. David Creech, professor of horticulture at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, is sharing plant stocks with the arboretum. He manages the Pinewoods Native Plant Center and other horticultural projects for SFA.

Estelle Debney, chair of the Jasper arboretum project, says these two work days are to prepare soil for fall planting and gets bulbs, seeds and plants into the ground.

Work begins at 9 a.m. both days. Cold drinks will be provided.
