Dunn graduates from DPS training academy

Eric M. Dunn of Jasper graduated from the Texas Department of Public Safety's 133rd Training Academy Sept. 28.

Dunn began the 28-week training in March. His instruction covered more than 100 subjects, including counterterrorism, traffic and criminal law, arrest and control procedures, accident reconstruction, first aid and Spanish.

They also received training in extensive use of force, communication skills, firearms, driving, criminal interdiction, cultural diversity and physical fitness training.

"They will be placing themselves willingly into great danger to protect all of us here in Texas," said DPS Director Col. Thomas A. Davis Jr.

Dunn will be assigned to the Texas Highway Patrol in Wallisville.
