Lady Bulldogs post victory over WO-S
By GEORGIA PURDY Newsboy Correspondent

The Jasper Lady Bulldogs posted their first district win over West Orange-Stark last Tuesday, beating the Lady Mustangs 25-16, 25-18 and 25-23.

"We played really well," Coach Casey Murphy said. "We looked like we were a team because we played together. If we had played like this all season, we could have won more games."

Keyna Mason was high-point server with 17; Shalethia Middleton had 26 digs, and Janice Shelby had 13 hits.

Junior varsity also won 25-23 and 25- 16, but individual stats are not available.

The Bridge City game Friday night was another matter as Jasper went up against a far superior team.

"Bridge City is amazing," Murphy said. "They do things that you usually only see with Class 5A and college teams, especially in their ability to place the ball. They are a very knowledgeable team. We gave them some competition in game three, but really it was no contest. It's not much of a disappointment to lose to a team that good."

Jasper lost in three games, 25-10, 25-10 and 25-15.

Shay Adams had seven good serves. D'Aundrea Spikes dug up 19 balls and also had six hits.

As of last Thursday, Bridge City and Silsbee were tied for the district's top spot.

JV lost 25-12 and 25-21.

Breeunna Hafford had seven good serves. Marissa Mays dug up 27 balls, and Courtney Baker had 12 hits.

Both of this week's volleyball games are out of town. The Lady 'Dogs will be at home for their final contest next Tuesday against Silsbee.
