Rigsby leads way for Woodville
"When I got here last year, I looked at him and knew this kid was going to be pretty good," Fentress said. "Just seeing him in the spring, he just had that extra gear and you could tell he was going to be hard to bring down No one person has been able to tackle him this year." Rigsby has rushed 139 times for 1,035 yards and 14 touchdowns this year. Rigsby broke his ankle in the first scrimmage last year and never was a real factor in the Eagles' season last year. "They didn't utilize him a whole lot but we are going to use him," Fentress said. Against San Augustine, Fentress said he is hoping to post another 300 yards rushing in the district's second contest. "If we do that, we will be right where we want to be," Fentress said. "That would get us closer to 2-0 in district and that would be wonderful. If we can get this one, it will give our kids a little more confidence. When the Eagles take on the San Augustine Wolves in Eagle Stadium this Friday, Oct. 19, Fentress and his defensive staff will get their first look at a non-spread offense in some time. "We have seen the spread offense the last three weeks and San Augustine likes to run the ball," Fentress said. "But that plays in our favor too because we are good against the run too." Fentress said his Eagles are "right where we need to be right now." "Special teams we're not where we are supposed to be," Fentress said. "We're not good on our kickoff and punt returns. They need to get better before it costs us a touchdown." Fentress said he would not vary his offensive scheme against the Dragons this week. "We're just going to line up in our power running game and see what happens," Fentress said. He said quarterback Stephen Williams needs to work on his passing game a bit this coming week. "We didn't throw the ball very effectively against Shelbyville," Fentress said. "We had some open receivers and we didn't see them and when we did we would overthrow them." Fentress said he doesn't expect his Eagles to look ahead to next week's matchup with Corrigan-Camden and take San Augustine for granted. "They know better than to do that and when they do it, they get a good chewing during the halftime break," Fentress said. "I don't think they will look ahead because these teams beat us last year," Fentress said. "They are looking at these teams, trying to get a little payback." |
