St. Anthony's welcomes new Cardinal designate

Catholics celebrated a Jubilee Mass and welcomed Cardinal designate Daniel N. DiNardo at the historic St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica in Beaumont on Sunday, Oct. 21.

Southeast Texas Catholics celebrated three milestones this year: the Diocese of Beaumont's 40th anniversary, the 100th anniversary of the dedication of St. Anthony's, and the elevation of the cathedral to minor basilica status by Pope Benedict XVI.

The new cardinal designate will become official Nov. 24 in ceremonies at the Vatican.
