Fire Marshal asks for help
      Jasper Fire Marshal Stephen Williamson is asking for help to solve who is starting fires that, so far, has been limited to grass and trees. "The Jasper Volunteer Fire Department responded to two fires Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28, and one fire Monday afternoon, Oct. 29," Williamson said.

Newton Lions learn about crime, drugs
      The Newton Lions Club will continue learning about the war on drugs at their noon meeting tomorrow, Nov. 1, at the First Baptist Church in Newton. This week Newton County Sheriff Joe Walker will speak on drug and crime prevention. Last week's program featured Stewart Shaver, probation officer.

      Peyton Gale Jacks Nicklous Jacks and Amanda Easterling of Pineland announce the birth of their daughter, Peyton Gale, born Oct. 18 at 4:44 p.m. at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces and was 20 inches long.
