Police confirm blood found in truck Byerly's
By JIMMY GALVAN Managing Editor

Jasper Police Chief Todd Hunter confirmed on Monday, Oct. 29, that blood found in Martin Byerly's truck has been determined by Jefferson County Crime Lab officials to be Byerly's.

Jefferson County Crime Lab officials searched Byerly's vehicle on Oct. 3 and obtained the blood samples from the vehicle.

Hunter said the search for Byerly is still active and the department is receiv- -ing new information on the case daily.

"Our first priority is to locate Mr. Byerly and our second priority is to prosecute those responsible for his disappearance," Hunter said. "Detective Mike Poindexter and Texas Ranger Danny Young have had several leads in recent days and are following up on them. This case is not cold as we receive calls daily. It would be a concern to us if we were not receiving calls on the case."

Byerly has not been seen since Friday, Sept. 28, where he was last seen at "Jake's Place" on U.S. Highway 96 in Jasper. His white 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck was located Sept. 29 at the Payless Shoe Source store located on Highway 190 in Jasper.

Police suspect foul play in Byerly's disappearance.

Byerly is described as a while male, 5'11" and weighing 185 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and a mustache.

Texas EquuSearch again searched for Byerly this weekend in Jasper.

Anyone having any information concerning Byerly's disappearance is urged to contact the Jasper Police Department at 384- 3471 or EasTex CrimeStoppers at 409-724- TIPS.
