Walking the halls
By VICTOR WILLIAMS Principal, Rowe Intermediate School

Welcome back to Walking the Halls of Rowe Intermediate School. As you walk the halls with me, you will see learning taking place everywhere; our teachers, staff, parents, and administrators are all partners in the education of each child.

We are working hard to create a positive and productive learning experience in order to ensure future educational success. The students are adjusting well to the expectations set at Rowe Intermediate which include classroom dedication, arriving at class on time, and following the rules. Habits that students display today will stay with them for years to come.

The teachers at Rowe Intermediate arrive on campus early and stay late to give students the opportunity for extra help. They continue to assess students with TAKSformatted benchmarks in reading, math, science, and social studies.

October was a busy month for Rowe Intermediate. Students are trying out for different UIL events which will take place in December on the campus of Jean C. Few Primary. A benchmark test was given in all core subject areas. We also kicked off our DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and SOCC (Strengthening Our Capacity to Care) programs.

Our Pride organization and the campus parent liaisons are conducting an aggressive fund-raiser campaign to buy a permanent marquee for the campus. The organization is selling tickets to win two porch rockers which are on display at the school. The students will also have the opportunity to get involved by contributing change for their favorite celebrity: James Brown, Elvis Presley or Tina Turner. The final outcome will be announced at the Rowe Rock Rally which will be held on Nov. 2 with a transformation of the principal into the celebrity contest winner.

Come and walk the halls with me as we build a solid foundation for a strong future. Thank you for all the support in making Rowe Intermediate a better place to learn.
