Fall Festival

First Assembly of God Church, 351 W. Gibson, will have a Fall Festival Oct. 31, 6 - 8 p.m. with games, candy, prizes, food, an inflatable jousting game and bounce houses. For more information call 384-2365.

Master gardener

County agent Ricky Thompson is now accepting applications for an eightweek master gardener class to be held Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning in November. For more information, call the Texas Cooperative Extension office at 384-3721.

Parking lot sale

Armstrong Memorial CME and Moore Chapel CME will have a parking lot sale Nov. 3 starting at 8 a.m. at Moore Chapel CME, 991 S. Bowie. Barbeque links and bake sale will also be available.

Trinity Episcopal Church women will hold an estate sale and sweet shoppe Nov. 3, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Parish Hall on the corner of Main and Collier St.

Jasper retired teachers

The Jasper Retired Teachers Association will meet Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m. in the Christian Service Center of the Church of Christ. The program theme will be "Remembering Our Local Veterans."

Archeological Society

The Deep East Texas Archeological Society will meet Nov. 5 at the Newton County History Center at 7 p.m. Maurice Bigham, an Indian flute maker, will present this month's program. For more information contact Phyllis Summers at 565- 2022.

Adult Co-Ed softball

There will be an adult coed softball tournament Nov. 10 at 8 a.m. at the Lone Star Youth Council softball field for $10 per person and $5 to enter the home run derby. Registration deadline is Nov. 8. For more information call Melissa Armstrong at 384- 6424.

Christmas in the Park

The Kirbyville Heritage Society will hold Christmas in the Park Nov. 24 at Magnolia Park. To enter the parade call Susan Cornell at 423-2286. For booth information contact Don Gilbert at 423-1599.

Christmas Parade

The Jasper Lake Sam Rayburn Area Chamber of Commerce announced the date of the Christmas parade will be Friday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m. Theme is "Christmas round the World."

Senior Volunteers

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program needs volunteers, age 55 and up, to fill many areas of need in Jasper and Newton counties. Call Ginger Studensky at 384-5704, ext. 271.

Food bank

Harvest Church at 1501 S. Wheeler now offers a food bank the first Tuesday of each month 9 - 11 a.m.
