Fire Marshal asks for help

Jasper Fire Marshal Stephen Williamson is asking for help to solve who is starting fires that, so far, has been limited to grass and trees.

"The Jasper Volunteer Fire Department responded to two fires Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28, and one fire Monday afternoon, Oct. 29," Williamson said.

Both fires are currently under investigation as possible arson.

"Your assistance bringing the person or persons responsible for starting these fires is needed. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers, 409 724- TIPS, the fire marshal's office, 384-4651, or the Jasper Police Dept., 384-3721," Williamson said.

He also advised that people burning leaves or trash should be aware that dry conditions and windy days create dangerous conditions.
