The Jasper Lady Bulldogs ended their volleyball season last week with a loss to the district coleader Silsbee.

Silsbee and Bridge City tied for the District 21-3A championship, but the Lady Cardinals took down Silsbee in five games Saturday to determine first and second seeding as they head into the playoffs.

Jasper, who has only won one district game, actually played the Lady Tigers close throughout much of the Tuesday night contest. Midway through game one, Silsbee pulled away to nine point lead that the Lady Dogs could not overcome, ending the match 25-12.

Jasper led in game two until Silsbee overtook them to go up by four points at 14-10. Even though the Lady 'Dogs put up a good fight, Silsbee ended the game with a strong outside hit and a 25-16 victory.

Jasper got off to a bad start in game three, unable to control the ball and were down six points early on. They came back to within three points at 17-14 and 18-15 but could not sustain the momentum. The Lady Tigers claimed another victory at 25- 15.

Junior varsity lost the first game 25-16 then came back in game two to break a 20- 20 tie and go up 25-22 for the final score.

They led game three until Silsbee tied it at 13-13 and then pulled ahead to maintain at three-to-five point lead.

When Jasper faltered and went through a series of bad passes it was all over. Silsbee prevailed 25-15.
