Carl Leonard "Bo" Lively is likely to be a well-traveled man, according to Jasper County Sheriff's deputy Curtis Frame.
As of Monday, Lively is being held on combined bonds of more than $1.6 million dollars, according to the Henderson County Sheriff's Department. He allegedly robbed liquor and convenience stores across 16 counties since May.
"We want him," said Frame, "and so do a whole lot of other people."
The man allegedly robbed Solley's Package Store twice. The suspect is likely to be arraigned in a whirlwind tour of East Texas jails, according to Frame.
Lively was apprehended in Gun Barrel City on Oct. 30. Henderson County deputies charged him with an expired driver's license after a minor fender bender in
a parking lot.
"He (Lively) was backing out of a parking spot and was apparently distracted by an officer driving up to check on an unrelated complaint about cars parking in the fire lane," Frame explained.
"Lively backed into another car. The officer heard the crunch and came over to check on the drivers," Frame said.
As a matter of routine, the officer ran the license plates on the blue Chevy Tahoe, and when they came back as stolen, he called for back up. By the time more officers arrived, the suspect had changed the plates on the vehicle.
Officers also recovered the gun that was allegedly used in the holdups.
Frame went to interview the suspect at the Henderson County jail Oct. 31. Jasper County has issued two aggravated felony warrants against Lively.
"He'd already asked for a lawyer so I knew I would not get much, but I just wanted to look him in the eye," Frame said.
Lively, 54, and his wife, 50, had been living in a hotel in Jacksonville during a property dispute over land in Palestine. The wife did not know about the robberies and thought her husband was going to his insurance job each day. She has not been arrested or charged with any crime, according to Frame.
Abusiness card identifies Bo Lively as an agent for Farm and Ranch Healthcare based in Ft. Worth.
