Pick up Greenstreets trees Sat.

If you signed up for one of the Texas Forest Service free trees, pick up date is this Saturday, Nov. 10, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Operation Greenstreets, a collaboration of Texas A&M and TFS, aims to replace the green urban canopy by offering free trees to residents in the areas damaged by Hurricane Rita.

An email confirmation was sent two weeks ago to people who signed up online. Patty Shaw of Keep Jasper Beautiful says that after 2 p.m. there will be an opportunity to sing up for any unclaimed trees. The recipient must promise to plant the tree in their front yard and water it at least once a week for two years.
