Billy Joe Thomasson

Funeral services for Billy Joe Thomasson, 78, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the Shawnee Church of Jesus Christ, Huntington, with Reverend Carey Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Byerly Campground Cemetery, Jasper.

Mr. Thomasson was born May 29, 1929 in Bastrop, LA, to Octavene (Byerly) and Smith E. Thomasson, and died Monday, November 12, 2007 in a local hospital.

Mr. Thomasson served in the U.S. Army from 1951- 1954. He was employed by Huntington State Bank in various positions for 25 plus years and attended Huntington First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Cindy Thomasson of Kingwood; son, Jeremy Thomasson of Huntington; brother, Smith and Janet Thomasson of Ft. Worth; granddaughter, Chaney Thomasson of Kingwood; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Thomasson in 2004; brother, Gene Thomasson; and sister, Martha Nell Morgan.

Honorary pallbearer will be Boots Morehead.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
