Fans proved a big help for Bulldogs

What a refreshing sight it was at the Bone Yard on Friday, Nov. 9 as the Jasper crowd stood up and backed its Bulldogs during a thrilling 40-34 victory over the Silsbee Tigers.

In recent weeks, Jasper fans have been villified on internet message boards for not being faithful to their squad and leaving the West Orange-Stark contest when the Mustangs pulled away in the second half.

But when Silsbee took a second-half lead over Jasper, the fans stepped up and cheered louder and gave the players something to feed off of.

They handed the players that bit of a rush that they needed to get back into the contest and eventually win the game. Fans, young and old, stood and cheered wildly for their Bulldogs and that is stongly commended.

This Saturday, Jasper will travel to Humble to take on the Splendora Wildcats in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs. Let's send a strong message to our players by making the trek to Humble Saturday and back our Dawgs as they take the first step in the playoffs.

The players can only do so much on the field. They need your support to help them through the tough times and bumps in the road during a game.

You showed your true spirit during Friday's crucial contest against Silsbee, keep up the good work this Saturday in Humble.

Good luck to the Bulldogs this week in Humble and good luck to the Kirbyville Wildcats, Buna Cougars and Newton Eagles.

A job well done again this year.

Roses go to….

t The Jasper High School Band for receiving three superior ratings from UIL judges at a recent marching band contest. Now the area knows what we have known for a long time. We have one of the best high school band around.

Thorns go to….

t Whoever broke into the Jasper High School fieldhouse during Friday's contest with Silsbee. While the Bulldogs were playing the game of their lives, someone broke in and stole numerous items from the players and coaches.
