Forage program set for Nov. 29 at JNEC
RICKY THOMPSON

Ricky Thompson is the County Extension Agent- Ag/NR for Jasper County.
This was a very good year for making hay in the Jasper County area. We had good rainfall this summer. As of today, in spite of the recent rains, we are dealing with dry conditions. We need soil moisture for planting our winter pastures and wildlife plots.

I have not had many requests to do hay testing this year; however I still encourage you to have your hay tested for your personal management. Contact the Extension office in Jasper for more information on how to get your hay tested.

We will have our annual Fall Chili Supper and forage program Nov. 29 at the Jasper - Newton Electric Coop room in Kirbyville at 7:00 pm. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m.; $8.00 for the meal and program. Those producers with pesticide licenses will receive one hour's credit.

This years program will be supplemental feeding with forages by Dr. Jason Banta, assistant professor and Extension beef cattle specialist.

Please call the Extension Office by Nov. 23 to preregister. We need a head count for the meal preparation. RSVP for the program or to as about hay testing at 384-3721.
