John E. Maltby Funeral services for John E. Maltby, 83, of Jasper, TX were held Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with burial at Colmesneil Cemetery. John died November 17, 2007 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. A native and former longtime resident of Harlingen, TX .he lived in Colmesneil for the past 25 years. A1943 graduate of Harlingen High School, he served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. After the war he returned to Harlingen to help operate his parents Grocery Store. He married Katherine Lenora in 1951 and they were married 52 years at the time of her death. They owned and operated Kay's Bokay in Harlingen. He moved to Southeast Texas in 1980 and worked with Central Freight Lines, in 1986 he retired and became an Antique Dealer, he especially enjoyed working on old clocks. He loved his family and is survived by one daughter Paula Yvette Carlton & husband Jim of Colmesneil, two step daughters, Katherine "Kitty" Hennessee & husband Gary of Palestine, and Linda Sue Villagas & husband Augustine of Austin, one sister Helen Bonita Harrison of Gulf Breeze, Fla. Five grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by Addie Toney of Jasper. Beside his wife he was preceded in death by 2 sons Joe Frank Rutan and Johnnie Maltby, Jr. and a grandson Gary Wayne Hennessee, Jr. |
