Sayers corrects issue on voting on tap fee increase

Jasper City Councilman Randy Sayers has called some errors to the attention of The Jasper Newsboy.

The errors were printing in the Nov. 21 edition of The Jasper Newsboy article titled "City changes mind on water, sewer tap fees."

The article stated that council unanimously approved raising the tap fee increase during a meeting in June of 2007.

During the May 15 meeting, city councilmen Sayers and Joe Clyde Adams first motioned to table the item pending further information.

The ordinance was then adopted by council as motioned by councilwoman Diana Pace and seconded by councilwoman Gloria Monzino. Councilman Tommy Adams, Pace and Monzino voted for the measure while members Joe Clyde Adams and Sayers voted against the measure.

The Newsboy regrets the error.
