Tatum edges Newton in clash of Class 2A titans

      Rarely does a game that is handed pre-game hype as a game of the year live up to its billing. Last Friday night at Lufkin's Abe Martin Stadium, Tatum defeated Newton 20-16 in the Class 2A playoffs in a match-up that was thrilling all the way to the finish line.

      The Jasper Lady Bulldogs lost to both Hemphill and Huntington and then took a week off to get ready for the district opener against Kirbyville. Hemphill, state-ranked fourth in Class 2A in preseason picks by the Texas High School Basketball Coaches Association, proved a tough match.

Jasper's Patton nets football honors at Missouri Southern
      Jordan Patton, former Jasper Bulldog football player, was named to the All-Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association for 2007 at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO. Patton was named to the second team All MIAA for the defense.
