Jasper High School turkey drive gives to needy families

Jasper High School's FCCLA held a turkey drive Nov. 5 - 14 and raised $2,068. 89.

The club decided to give families in Jasper turkeys for the Thanksgiving holidays. They put bare, paper turkeys on the teacher's doors and sold feathers for 10 cents to put on the turkeys.

They bought 20 turkeys and put together baskets of food for families of students at the high school. They also bought 20 turkeys for Tanglewood Baptist Church and groceries for their food pantry.

In addition, the club gave a monetary donation to the church to help families in the community.

Since the paper turkeys were on different teachers doors there was a competition to see which teacher could get the most feathers and the winners were:

First place Mrs. French, winning a dinner for two at Elijah's.

Second place Mrs. Smith, third place Mr. Lee, and fourth place Mrs. Cegielski; each winning a $10 gift card from Wal- Mart.

Student winners were:

Jasmine Adams, Glenn Beatty, Hallie Dover, Courtney Scott, Trae Horn, Cody Martin, and Jarren Bronson; each winning a $10 gift card from Sonic.
