Virginia Grove

Virginia "Aunt Darrow" Grove, 92, of Jasper, passed away November 30, 2007 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 7, 1915, in Royse City, Texas, to Mable C. Dabney Grove and Herbert Darrow Grove. Her mother taught school until she married, and then was a homemaker. Her father was a dentist for 40 years in Royse City, having moved there fromt he state of Virginia. She had one sister, Mary Lee Grove Kincannon, who had one son, Virginia's nephew, Jim Kincannon and his wife Kim.

Virginia recieved a bachelor's degree from East Texas State Teacher's College in 1936 where she majored in mathematics and business. She completed work for her Master's degree at East Texas State University in 1948. After teaching high school business and mathematics for 43 years, she retired in 1978. She was initiated into Delta Kappa Gamma in February 1954.

She was also a very active member of the Jasper Retired Teachers Assn, where she served as Vice President, and of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Jasper. She loved traveling, and had visited all 50 states, as well as the Orient, Scandinavia, Canada, and Great Britian.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper, burial followed at West Oaks Cemetery.

Survivors include her nephew, Jim Kincannon and wife Kim of Jasper; Great- Nieces and Nephews, Katie Shierry and husband Steven of Cleburne, TX, Justin Kincanon and wife Tara of Carthage, TX, and Mallory Kincannon of Jasper,TX; Great-Great-Nieces and Nephews, Hannah, Jace, and Caleb.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be directed toward the Jasper Retired Teachers Assn, c/o Milton Brack, President, RT 1 Box 640, Jasper, TX 75951.
