Sounds of Yuletide set for Dec. 16

The Vernon Parish Community Orchestra will present "Sounds of the Yuletide" at St. Michael's Catholic Church Sunday, Dec. 16, at 2:30 p.m.

The concert will feature selections from Mozart, Tchaikovsky, George Cohan, Irving Berlin and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The program concludes with music from the Nutcracker Suite and well-known Christmas carols.

Past state fiddle champion Ron Yule of DeRidder, LA, will serve as master of ceremonies.

The orchestra will be directed by Dr. Karen Townsend Gordy, and the orchestra includes talent from Louisiana and East Texas.

The free concert is open to all, and the performance will be followed by a reception with refreshments.
