Lady Dawgs move to 5-7 in early non-district play

      After a disappointing loss to Kirbyville in the district opener, the Jasper Lady Bulldogs turned their team around and won the championship at the Goodrich tournament over the weekend. In tournament play, Jasper defeated Shepherd 61-44 in game one.

      Former Jasper High School athlete Sean Weatherspoon has received the Linebacker of the Year award from the University of Missouri. Weatherspoon is a sophomore on the Missouri football team and led the team in tackles with a total of 121, 71 solos and 50 assists.

Dawgs capture second at Brookshire Royal tourney

      The Jasper Bulldogs took second place in the Brookshire Royal basketball tournament over the weekend. They defeated SFA 61- 36. Dominique Bailey scored 16 points, followed by Kwame Spikes and Christian Goff, nine each; Jarren Bronson, Aaron Garrett and Roderick Kyles, six each.
