Walking the Halls
By BETTY POWERS, Parnell Principal

One of our Jasper Independent School District goals is "Parents will be full partners in the education of their children."

At Parnell, we work diligently to keep parents informed and knowledgeable about their child's academic progress and their social interactions. We want every child at Parnell to be successful.

However, we know that to accomplish this we need your continued help and support. There is a poem by Ray Lingenfeller called Parent-Teacher Poem which says:

I dreamed I stood in a studio and watched two sculptors there.

The clay they used was a young child's mind, and they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher; the tools she used were books and music and art.

One was a parent with a guiding hand and a gentle loving heart.

And when at last their work was done they were proud of what they had wrought.

For the things they had worked into the child could never be sold or bought.

And each agreed they would have failed if they had worked alone.

For behind the parent stood the school, and behind the teacher stood the home.

Our sincere thanks to each and every parent, grandparent, or guardian who is investing in the lives of the children at Parnell. We appreciate all you do.

May this holiday season be a safe and happy one for you and your family.
