Dawgs capture second at Brookshire Royal tourney

The Jasper Bulldogs took second place in the Brookshire Royal basketball tournament over the weekend.

They defeated SFA 61- 36. Dominique Bailey scored 16 points, followed by Kwame Spikes and Christian Goff, nine each; Jarren Bronson, Aaron Garrett and Roderick Kyles, six each. Robert Adams, William Ellis, Roderick "Buddy" Williams, and Cameron Stubblefield also contributed to the win.

In game two, they defeated Brookeshire Royal 62-50. Bailey led the scoring with 14 points, followed by Goff, 13; Spikes, 11; Kyles, nine; and DJ Jackson, six. Ellis, Bronson and Garrett added points.

In the final, Bailey led the scoring with 25 points; but Jasper could not pull out the win over Episcopal and the final score was 69- 66.

Kyles sank 16 points, followed by Spikes with 12. Gaarrett, Jackson, Williams, and Ellis combined for 14 points.

"I am very proud of the way these young men behaved themselves on this trip and we put together some good performances during the tournament," coach Terry Young said. "We really appreciate those who sponsored us. It was a great opportunity for team-building and I think it brought us closer together as a team."
