Riggins

Jasper High School

Zach Riggins, a senior of Jasper High School, has been selected as student of the week for the week of Dec. 17 - 21.

"Zach is truly an example of enthusiasm and excellence at Jasper High School. He consistently demonstrates a positive attitude in my classroom and in the community," said teacher Sherri Elmer.

"In addition to being a member of the varsity football and soccer teams, Zach was also the leading runner for the JHS varsity cross country team, which advanced to the regional level this fall," Elmer continued.

"Zach is one of the most proactive, responsible students that I've ever had in my radio-broadcasting program at JHS, and he cheerfully and creatively completes whatever task he is asked to perform. He is an excellent asset to my classroom and a positive example to others at Jasper High School."

Riggins is the son of Richard and Dana Riggins.

Rowe Intermediate

Elizabeth Birdlong has been selected as Rowe Intermediate's student of the week for the week of Dec. 17-21.

Ms. Carolyn Gray said "Elizabeth can always be found making the right choices and is a very quiet good student."

She has a pet parrot. Her favorite subject is reading.

Birdlong is the daughter of Shonda and Mike Birdlong.

Jasper Junior High

Kala Adams, a seventh grade student of Jasper Junior High School, has been selected as student of the week for the week of Dec. 17-21.

"Kala is a very self-motivated student who always puts forth her best effort. She is a great role model for the other students in my class; she is well-organized, very respectful, and always has a positive attitude," said teacher Shannon Harvey. "I really enjoy having Kala in class."

Adams enjoys traveling, shopping, and hanging out with her friends during her spare time. She is a member of the youth choir and a junior usher at Evergreen Baptist Church. Her favorite subject is math.

She is the daughter of L.B. Johnson Jr. and Shamarion Adams.
