Shofner seeking re-election to post

Charles Shofner Jr. announced last week that he will seek re-election for commissioner of Precinct 1 in Jasper County.

"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your Jasper County Precinct 1 Commissioner for the past six-plus years. We have made progress and I want to continue that program," Shofner said.

"I have improved more than 40 miles of road and the county is in excellent financial shape and just received an excellent outside audit report, Shofner said.

Shofner noted that during his terms of office the county has survived two hurricanes, two major floods and other disasters.

He currently serves as the secretary/treasurer for th Deep East Texas County Commissioners' Court and Judges Association, and on two committees for the North and East County Judges and Commissioners' Association.

Shofner has lived in Jasper County the past 32 years. He is a 1968 graduate of Huntington High School and attended Stephen F. Austin University. He has been a businessman for 35 years.

He is a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church. His children are Chad, Kacie, Clark, Clint, Ben, Cooper and Jacob.
