'Why not help somebody else?'

Newsboy photo/ Sharon Kerr MYRTIS VILLAGE APARTMENTS' Santa looks a lot like the everyday maintenance superviser Neil Davis, but when Davis won the $500 shopping card in the Toys for Tots drive, he showed his true colors by donating the card back to the Toys for Tots.
You know those pointytoed shoes that elves wear? What makes their toes do happy curls is stories like this:

Neil Davis, maintenance superviser at the Myrtis Village Apartments in Jasper started donating to Toys for Tots about four years ago.

"Every year I just donate to Toys for Tots instead of Christmas gifts on behalf of all my workers," Davis said. "We're glad to do that."

Officer Wanda Brister, head of the Jasper Police Association's Toys for Tots drive, said Davis has shown up every year with toys and cash. This year he bought $40 worth of chances in the drawing for a $500 shopping card, and made her write Myrtis Village on every one of them.

One of Davis' tickets was drawn Friday, and he promptly donated it back to the Toys for Tots drive to buy more gifts for the kids.

"It's the right thing to do," Davis shrugged. "I've been blessed, and I've got everything I need. Why not help somebody else?"
