JJHS pick up wins over Bridge City

Both junior high school girls basketball teams defeated Bridge City, Dec. 17.

Seventh graders dominated the game by a whopping score of 54-6 with Jasper leader Miqua Spikes tallying 32 points, six rebounds, seven steals, and three assists.

"She had an outstanding game performance," Coach Jacqueline Canton said."

Twin sister Diqua Spikes followed, adding 14 points, five rebounds, five steals, and four assists.

"Julia Land's defensive efforts didn't go unnoticed, as well," Canton said.

"She contributed five rebounds, seven steals, and five assists, along with her four points."

Sierra Mitchell also dominated the boards, gabbing team-high eight rebounds along with her four points, Canton said.

Jalen Weatherspoon had two rebounds and both Ashley Clark and Chelsea Thomas had one each.

Eighth graders posted a 31-24 win with Kimberly Lewis leading the charge.

Lewis scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Nykista Hennington also contributed six points, six rebounds, two steals, and four assists. Markeyia Armstrong dropped in four points, with six rebounds, one steal, and two assists.

"The whole team contributed defensively," Canton said.

"Robyn Winkle snatched four rebounds, Ebony Adams and Jade Tukes grabbed three, Destiny Adams and Daneisha Sells had one each."
