Adams celebrate 65th
      Deacon Arbie and Helen Adams Sr. of Jasper, now living in Beaumont, will celebrate their 65th anniversary Jan. 23. They have six children, 11 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Relay U. set for Saturday
      Team Captain University is coming to Jasper this Saturday, Jan. 12, 9 a.m. to noon at the Jasper Fire Hall, according to Sandy Flores of the Jasper/Lakes Area Relay for Life. "It's designed to help team captains form and manage successful Relay teams," according to Flores.

      This is the last week residents of Jasper, Newton and Tyler counties can register for a free tree through Operation Greenstreets, a program sponsored by the Texas Forest Service through Texas A&M University. Trees are three- to six-foot tall nursery stock in pots.

      Region 5 Adult Education will have spring registration for GED, Adult Basic Education, and Workplace Readiness Skills Jan. 9 - 11 at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The first day of class will be Jan. 14 at 8:30 a.m.
