Police search for hit-and-run driver

A 24-year-old Jasper man is listed in critical condition after a vehicle struck him as he walked home from work Saturday, Jan. 5.

Kendall Antino Larkin of the 1600 block of Bowie, was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth's Hospital with multiple injuries following the late-night accident.

Early Monday, Jan. 7, Jasper Police announced they are looking for a 1988-93, GMC or Chevrolet, Blazer, Yukon, Suburban or truck with right front damage.

According to Jasper Police incident reports, officers were dispatched to the Donut Palace at 11:19 p.m. Saturday in reference to an individual lying in the ditch on the north side of the roadway.

When police arrived on the scene, they found Larkin in the ditch. He was able to identify himself to police before losing consciousness.

Larkin was transferred to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital but was later sent to St. Elizabeth's. The incident report stated that Larkin suffered multiple fractures to his pelvis, a fracture to the right side of his head, possible fractured vertebra and multiple internal injuries.

According to the incident reports, police found Larkin's hat from McDonald's approximately 25 yards east from where he was lying in the ditch and his black jacket was three feet from his feet.

Police found multiple pieces of debris from the vehicle believed to have struck Larkin. It is through the debris that police have determined the make and model of the vehicle believed to be involved in the incident.
