DAR rewards good citizens

The Daniel Witcher Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) of Jasper has recently conducted the DAR Good Citizen Program and Scholarship Contest.

The contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship and is open to all senior class members in area high schools.

The student selected as the school's DAR good citizen should have qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patricism. Only one student per year may be honored as the school's good citizen.

The student will receive a DAR good citizen pin, certificate and wallet recognition card. The Daniel Witcher Chapter presents each good citizen with a scholarship at graduation or awards service.

Area students to be honored by the Daniel Witcher Chapter of DAR at the Belle Jim Hotel in Jasper or Feb. 16 at 11:30 a.m. at David Nathaniel Giles of Burkeville, Darla Landry of Newton, Elissa Michelle Tieman of Kirbyville, and Rachel Maureen Erickson of Buna. Darla Landry will also be honored as the Chapter winner.
