Virgie Edith Brison Burrell

Virgie Edith Brison Burrell, 91, of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Promise Hospital in Nederland, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 in the chapel of Broussard's in Nederland, with the Reverend Dr. David Mahfouz officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Mrs. Burrell was born in Stillwell, Oklahoma, and was raised nearby in the town of Pee Vine, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker, lived in Port Neches for over 70 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Neches.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Burrell whom she was married to for 49 years sisters; Nancy Anglin, Louise Alston, Nora Herrin and brothers Charles and Hubert Brison.

Surviving are her sons; James R. Burrell, Jr. and wife Sherrian of Jasper, Joe L. Burrell and wife Amy of LaPorte, five grandchildren; Jeffrey R. Burrell of Pearland, Julie R. Moore and Janie R. Burrell of Jasper, Justin L. Burrell of League City and Regina Castillio of LaPorte, seven great grandchildren; Joshua R. Burrell of Pearland, Sarah and Emily Moore, John R. Bradley and Jada R. Burrell all of Jasper plus Alxis and Andrew J. Castillio of LaPorte. Also surviving Mrs. Burrell are sisters Bertha Ward and Beatrice Blackburn of Pasadena and Vera Vawter of Shore Acres, sister-in-law Nevad Brison of Nederland, brother-in-law Dudley Burrell of Lumberton, and very special niece Mary Sue Tompkins of Nederland many very special nieces, nephews and friends.
