Mount Olive Breakfast honors those who helped Jasper grow

TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING has Zavier Coller nodding off during grandfather Jack Lane's speech, but he's all eyes later in the program.
John 13:35 "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another."

"Have love for one another" was the theme for the annual Men's Day Breakfast held at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church Jan. 20.

The men of Mount Olive cook and serve the breakfast, which is a nondenominational fellowship event that draws people from all communities in Jasper.

Retired County Judge Joe Folk served as emcee for guest speakers John D. Hardin, Maurice Berry, Rodney Norsworthy, Charlie Nicholson, District Judge Joe Bob Golden, Judge Gary Gatlin, District Attorney Steve Hollis, Jack Lane and Walter Diggles.

Honorees were Walter Kyles, Jasper Police Chief Todd Hunter, Gwen Gilford and Sharon Miller.

Music and entertainment was provided by Emma Adams, Harold Cauley, Roy Parker, S. Armstrong, Joe Ann Jackson and Quincy Martindale.

Candles were lit in memory of those who have helped Jasper grow and move forward: I. W. Norsworthy, L.L. "Boo" Mathews, C. C. Pool, Estella Johnson, Joe Tonahill, Arthur Temple, Tom Schofield, Dr. C. Larkin and A. Jordan.
