Goodeaux, Logan capture Angler's Quest
The anglers were allowed to trailer to their desired ramp on the Bend as the wind was whistling 15-20 in the am and was expected to get stronger throughout the day and it did. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 p.m. This Toledo Bend Saturday Series after all nine events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2009 Toledo Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams in pounds will qualify for the two-day championship in October on Toledo Bend. A special Top five group of teams will qualify to go to the "Tournament of Champions" to be held in November on Choke Canyon Reservoir and will pay the winning team GUARANTEED $15,000. All Anglers Quest Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $125.00 per team. Toledo Bend water was in good shape and about 3 & ? ft below normal pool level with water temps running 46-50 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a very windy 33 degrees with a warming to 53 degrees by weigh in time.
The team of Ned Goodeaux from Many, La and Dale Logan from Iowa, La run Dale's Champion/Mercury bass rig to the Louisiana side on the north end to catch 25 keeper bass throwing rattle traps in 6-8 ft of water around hydrilla & stumps. Ned and Dale culled down to their best five bass at 20.33 lbs. to finish in 1st place and collect $875.00 for their day on the water. They reported having a decent bite all day. The team of Ricky Blankinship from Many, La and Michael Hunt from Etoil run Michael's Skeeter/Yamaha bass rig to north main lake areas to finish in 2nd with their best 5 bass, caught on traps and tx rigged lizards that tipped the scales at 15.46 lbs. They was no report of how they caught their sack of bass. Their day on the water payed back $450 for their efforts. The team of Greg Crawford from Huffman and Steven Kasper from Spring run Greg's Champion/Mercury to a north main lake area to finish in 3rd place with a total of five bass that tipped the scales at 15.30 lbs. fishing with rattle traps in 6-8 ft. water over hydrilla and stumps. They ended up with the Big Bass of the event, a fine 5.38 lber and took home $320.00 for their day on the water. Anglers Quest will be back at Alpine Marina on Toledo Bend on Saturday, Feb. 16 for the 2nd of 9 Toledo Saturday Series events. On Sunday Jan. 27 Anglers Quest will be at Mill Creek Park on Sam Rayburn for the 1st of 7 Super Team Series events. "FLASH" ALL Super Team events have been moved from the Pavilion to Mill Creek Park, ALL DATES will remain the same. Anglers Quest is now accepting Credit Cards.
