ETAL showcases local artists in February show The East Texas Art League in Jasper features rotating exhibits from many nationally-known artists, but February is always reserved for local members, according to Mary Jane Cole, ETAL press secretary. The sixth annual membership show opens Feb. 2 with a reception from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Arts Center at 364. N. Austin, and will run through March 5. "We have outstanding artists in our membership and this is the only show we sponsor where you must be a League member in order to display artwork," ETAL president Tina Barrow said. Membership categories start at $25. Admission to attend the show is free. The Arts Center and gift shop is open Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. "The Arts Center is getting more and more visitors," Barrow said. "We have so many talented artists in the area and it's wonderful to have a facility to show and sell their work." Upcoming exhibits for 2008 include: "Spring: Signs of Faith" in March, "Artistic Journey," art quilts by Carol Wise and watercolors by Bill Wise in April, "Images of Texas" by various artists in May, and "June in June" paintings by June Reid. |
