Lester T. Mills

Funeral services for Lester T. Mills, 80, were held January 19, 2008 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper with Military Graveside Services to follow at Big Sandy Cemetery in Polk County.

Lester died January 16, at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper. A native of Tyler County and formerly of Houston, he was a longtime Jasper resident. He loved his Lord & Savior Jesus, and was a longtime faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church in Jasper, where he served as a deacon. He owned & operated Mills Grocery in the Ebenezer Community until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting & raising cows. A family man he was the patriarch of his family.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Lucille Mills of Jasper; three daughters Diann Joslin & husband James, Helen Key & husband Doug all of Jasper, Patricia Kirkpatrick & husband Herbert of Roganville; a brother Jesse Mills of Marion, TX; a sister Grace Headding of Lamar, Colorado; six grandchildren & seventeen great grandchildren. Also survived by numerous other family members, he was predeceased by a brother Reverend Edward J. Mills.
