Carey Williamson
Burial followed in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Williamson passed away on January 16, 2008 in Tyler. He was born on October 31, 1925 in Houston to the late William Carey Williamson, Sr. and Ruth Hassler Williamson. He was raised in Houston where he graduated from Lamar High School and later from the University of Texas at Austin and South Texas Law School in Houston. Mr. Williamson practiced law in Silsbee before moving to Jasper, where he practiced real estate law and was County Attorney during the mid to late 1970's. He was a member of the Jasper Lions Club, and he and Maxine were active members of the First Baptist Church. They moved to Tyler in 1984 where he continued to practice law, and collected property and school taxes for Smith and other surrounding East Texas counties. Carey and Maxine have been very active members at Green Acres Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, enjoying very much his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Ralph O'Quinn, Jr. He is survived by a loving family including his wife of thirty years, Maxine Williamson of Tyler; two sons, John Williamson of Pearland, and Michael O'Quinn of Tyler; two daughters, Jana Stanley of Little Rock, Arkansas and Susan Gardner of Forney, Texas; two brothers, James Williamson of Granbury, Texas and Jack Williamson of Cherry Hill, New Jersey; ten grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Richardson, Michael Anderson, Rodney Walker, Keith Walker, Rusty Gardner and David Stanley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the John Childs Sunday School Class at Green Acres Baptist Church. Memorials in honor of Carey Williamson may be made to the Gideons International, P.O.
