Sing with One Voice rattles rafters at annual gathering of area choirs

Choirs from more than a dozen local churches joined to Sing With One Voice, the sixteenth annual community-wide singing event held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Jasper last Tuesday.

The St. Michael's parking lot was overflowing, but with help from the Jasper County Emergency Corps, people were directed to outlying parking lots and shuttled to the event on church buses.

Father Ron Foshage welcomed guests; Rev. John Hardin said the opening prayer; and Mike Neel gave the benediction.

Choirs who sang included Hillcrest Baptist Church, Greater New Bethel Baptist Church, Beech Grove Baptist Church, Parkway Baptist Church, Jasper's First Baptist Sanctuary Choir, Curtis United Methodist Church, the Victory in Jesus Singers, Tanglewood Baptist Church, Rayburn Baptist Church, the First Assembly of God, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Jasper Circuit United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church in Jasper, Roganville Baptist Church and Homer United Methodist Church.

ROGANVILLE BAPTIST CHURCH introduced their new pastor, James Neely, left, who met with Father Ron Foshage and members of Jasper Ministerial Alliance (below) for the first time during the community singing event.
Lake Rayburn United Methodist Church, who has attended past years, was unable to participate due to the death of their choir director, Bill Davis.

Ministers from the Jasper Ministerial Alliance sang the last hymn, "Great is Thy Faithfulness," who lines contain the words, "strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow."
