Don DeGrave

Military graveside funeral services for Don DeGrave, 76, of Jasper were held January 29, 2008 at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.

Don died January 26, 2008 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A longtime Jasper resident and member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, he was a native of Oconto, Wisconsin. After graduating from Oconto High School in 1950, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed all over the world during his military career. He served one Tour of Duty in the Korean Conflict and two Tours in Vietnam, retiring from the Army as a Sergeant First Class. Don enjoyed the camaraderie of the VFW and was a past Commander of Jasper VFW Post 6380 and VFW District 2. He enjoyed sports, especially bowling, softball, golf and pool, and loved his family.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Annaliese DeGrave of Jasper; son Michael DeGrave of New Windsor, NY; two daughters, Barbara Davenport and Lisa Burrows, both of Jasper, sister Lois Smet of Coleman, WI, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is predeceased by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
