Walking the halls I invite you to walk the halls of J.H. Rowe Intermediate School. The faculty and staff are working diligently to make every moment a learning experience and expose each child to everything he/she will need to be successful. I am encouraging all parents to review your child's progress. Parents can play an active role by reviewing posted grades via Family Access, which can be found on www.jasperisd.net. If your child is in need of improvement, schedule a conference with your child's teacher. If you notice that your child is receiving unsatisfactory conduct reports, please review the campus rules that are located in the student handbook with your child. When schools and parents work together, students have a greater potential for overall improvement. On March 5, our fifth grade students will be administered the TAKS in reading. Our students have been working hard all year to prepare for this first round of testing. The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills is given in grades 3-11 to measure a student's knowledge of the state mandated objectives and instructional targets. The TAKS test measures your child's ability to use higherorder thinking skills and problem solving strategies in the core subject areas. On February 5th, Rowe Intermediate will begin its after school Reading tutorial program for 5th grade students. This program will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 P. M. The main purpose of this program is to provide additional instruction to help your child be successful. Encourage your child to take full advantage of this opportunity. All parents, please pick up your child from tutorials by 4:45 p.m. On Feb. 5 and 7, the sixth grade students participate in the University Interscholastic League competition in Orange. We wish the participants, along with their coaches, the best of luck. Thank you for walking the halls with me. J. H. Rowe Intermediate School is "Building a Solid Foundation for a Strong Future" in all of our students. |
