Jasper drops game to Nacogdoches
By GEORGIA PURDY Newsboy Correspondent

The Jasper Bulldog boys' soccer team lost 8-0 to Nacogdoches last week. It was their only game since Friday was a bye.

"We came out in the first half intimidated," Coach Chris Coats said. "Nacogdoches is a great soccer team but when you play the way we did in the first half, anyone can beat you. We didn't win any of our throw-ins or goalie kicks and let them get position on every pass. We just played timid."

After a 20 minute delay because of lightning and 15 minutes left in the first half, Nac scored two more goals to go up 6-0.

Jasper came back in the second half with a different attitude, got the ball on their end of the field and had several scoring opportunities via corner kicks and offensive penetration.

"Our defense held them to just two goals in the second half, which was an improvement," Coats said. "But overall, we regressed in this game and I take full responsibility. I should have prepared them better."

Nacogdoches has been a force in the district for some time. They advanced to the Area playoffs last year.

Jasper played Livingston at home last night and will be on the road Friday against Hudson. Game time is 6 p.m.
