Black History awards set for Feb. 24 at New Lighthouse COGIC

The New Lighthouse COGIC Ministries will hold its annual black history and family day program Sunday, Feb. 24, at 3 p.m. with special guest Supt. Jerry Davis of the Bon Wier COGIC.

The program will be a skit by Eureka Beard, Negro spirituals and an "old time" soul food dinner in the fellowship hall. Attendees are encouraged to wear African dress or to dress as a historical character.

Black History awards will be presented. Past recipients of the award have been Walter Kyles, R.C. Horn and Booker T. Hunter, all of Jasper, and Sheriff Jesse Wolf of Tyler County.
