When William Brooks signed his letter of intent to attend Tyler Junior College, he said it was like going home.

"Before I moved here, we lived in Tyler and I feel comfortable being there," William said. "I know a lot of people in Tyler. I also like the campus. It's very pretty, and the coaches seem nice."

He has not declared a major but says he is thinking about

"The school helps their athletes with academics to make them successful," he said. "They have tutors available to help. If you fail there, you're pretty much trying to do that."

He feels that playing ball at Jasper High School has prepared him to be successful on KJC's team.

"I've learned to never stop fighting until the last buzzer sounds and most of all, to be obedient to your coaches," he said.

Among his high school football memories, one game stands out- this year's contest will the Silsbee Tigers.

"I have many memories but the one that sticks out more than the rest would have to be Jasper vs. Silsbee in 2007," he said. "It was an equally matched game that ended up coming down to the wire. It was especially significant that the victor was going to the playoffs. The entire team was giving that game their all."
