Relay for Life searches for entertainers and cancer survivors

The Jasper Relay for Life planners are looking for cancer survivors to honor, and entertainers to sign up for the big event, the night of Aril 25-26.

"We're looking for cancer survivors to participate in activities, take the opening survivor lap, and be our guests for a dinner in their honor," said organizer Sandy Flores in a news release.

Event chairman Lloyd Person said they are looking for local bands, singing groups and individual entertainers.

Teams spend all night keeping a baton in motion, walking, running, dancing and skating around the courthouse square in Jasper.

The event raises money for cancer research and for local services for those who are fighting cancer.

It celebrates survivors, and remembers those who lost their lives to cancer, and urges the community to "fight back," according to Persons.
