Commissioners meet twice for short agendas

The Jasper County Commissioners' Court met twice last week, Feb. 19 and Feb. 22, for short agendas on both days.

Feb 19

The court waived the 30- day waiting period for preliminary approval of Tiger Creek Estates Subdivision, section 3, and approved it for filing purposes.

The court accepted a quit-claim deed for a portion of CR 22 to be included in the county road system.

The court approved a lighting installation for Jasper Bell Field Airport.

The court heard from Billy Ted Smith, Dept. of Homeland Security coordinator, and approved seeking grant funding under LETP (Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention) and SHSP (State Homeland Security Program).

Feb. 22

County auditor Dru Miller advised commissioners to review their insurance needs for buildings and equipment before it is time to renew insurance.

Chief Deputy Jack Jett of the sheriff's office presented a resolution to renew lake patrol contracts with the Corps of Engineers, and the county approved it.
