CASA training classes start soon

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are seeking volunteers to train to advocate for abused, neglected and abandoned children in Orange, Jasper, Newton, Tyler, Hardin, Sabine and San Augustine counties.

Classes begin March 22, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.; March 23, 1 - 5 p.m.; March 29, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and March 30, 1 - 5 p.m. in the Orange office of Advocates for Children, 712 W. Park.

CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge and empowered to stand up for abused children who have been removed from their homes and to be a voice in court for these children as they progress through the foster care system.

If interested in becoming a volunteer, or learning about other ways to support the program, call Jane Stevenson, Executive Director, at (877) 586-6558 (ext. 11).
