Your Viewpoint Stand with Jesus By DAVID HARIGLEJasper I've been reading the articles about alcohol coming to Jasper, and people against this and I agree. This is the time for the real church to stand up and be counted. It will show if people are professing or possessing Christian. A person that is Christ centered, not man. The lady I talked to at Wal-Mart was not from Jasper, or even Jasper County. Just someone trying to push their belief on us. The only money I see coming from this is from DWI's, public intoxication and so on. Which we don't need. It this was to pass how many church people would eat in a restaurant that served alcohol? How many would take their children? I'll bet more than you would think. I know when a restaurant here went total non-smoking some complaints came from church people. I ask you to consider two points: First, will this serve the general good for the community? Will having alcoholic beverages more readily available serve to the public good? Second, why is the silence from our churches, our community leaders so deafening? Courage? Apathy? I believe those who see a public wrong or ill and act against such ills, are called "Patriots." Plus, it is the duty of everyone claiming to be a Christian. If not standing for Jesus, you'll fall for anything. Murphy J. Ross, I stand with you on your viewpoint Feb. 20 This has to be aimed at the youth of Jasper High School, as you see all kinds of different groups out there. Maybe you have to be connected with someone that works there. I just don't get it. Another case of neglect of our children. Jason Dunn, on your viewpoint; the big danger of skateboarding in parking lots and so on is: the property owner can be sued in case of an accident. Been there.
