Boykin files to run for District 4 council seat
"Over the years, I have observed many city council meeting and budget workshop sessions. During that time, I have learned a great deal about the operation of the city of Jasper and it's various departments," Boykin said. "As city secretary, my job was to record all proceedings, but I was not able to participate, voice my opinion or offer input. However, as a retired employee of 20 years, I now want to put my experience to work for the citizens of Jasper. "If elected, I will do everything that I can to serve all of the people of Jasper equally," Boykin said. "I will push for a more friendly and accommodating customer service. I will also try to see that all utilities and other services are provided at the lowest cost possible. I will have an open door policy and always be ready to answer the questions and concerns of the citizens of Jasper." Boykin is a native of Jasper and a graduate of Jasper High School. He attended Lamar University for two years. Before working for the city, Boykin worked in the wood and petroleum industry and joined the city in 1987 as a warehouse clerk. During his 20 years of service to the city, Boykin worked as purchasing agent, assistant city secretary and city secretary. Boykin is married to Alice Hennigan Boykin for more than 19 years and has four children and eight grandchildren and resides in the Inman Addition. |
