Hays Brooks

Funeral services for Iris Hays Brooks, 84, of the Chapman Community were held March 8, 2008 at Blossom Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Macky Buchanan officiating, and burial at Bridges Cemetery.

Mrs. Brooks died Wednesday, March 5 at Tyler Continued Care.

Iris was born Dec. 13, 1923 in Henderson, she was a member of the Blossom Hill United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Bells Society. She was a homemaker, a substitute teacher and worked as a Librarian at the Rusk County Library.

She was preceeded in death by her parents Willie and Eula Bridges and a granddaughter Brandi Michelle Brooks.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years Ottis E. Brooks of Chapman, son and daughter in law Eddie R. and Beverly Brooks of Henderson, daughter and son in law Pam J. and Buddy Boles of Chapman and son Mark Brooks of Chapman. Seven grandchildren: Sabrina Brooks of Texas City, Tessa and Ted Williams of Sherwood Ark., Mikki Brooks of Overton, Krissy and Jesse Schwettmann and Joshua Kelsey both of Chapman, Justina Morris of Yorktown and Sally Hays Brooks of Goodsprings. 10 great-grandchildren, 2 greatgreatgranchildren and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers were Joshua Kelsey, Jesse Schwettmann, Colby Brooks, Rick Hale, Edward Harris and Jerry Bridges. Honorary Pallbearers were Terry Bridges, Lee Langston and Buster Duran.

Memorial can be made to the Blossom Hill United Methodist Church or Bridges Cemetery.
